A Very Special Christmas Song!

Well sort of!
Cory Taylor of Slipknot/Stone Sour has put together a fun little twist on the holidays!

Here is the back story from Cory himself.
"I wrote this song in my kitchen one winter, listening to people bitch about the holidays," Taylor explained. "Personally, I love the holidays, but they seem to bring on severe stress in most people. So, I wrote this in honor of crotchety, drunken bastards who don’t know the difference between a yuletide and a toolshed. Plus, I think it's funny."

How can you argue with that!
Merry Christmas!

Freakers Ball 2011

That was a hell of a show!
Sidewise, Hatebreed, Anthrax, and FFDP!
They all killed it!
But for me I have to say Anthrax was the hi light of the night.

Something about that band turns a good time in toa hell of a party!

I may be a bit biased from growing up with them but it sure was fun to get to see them live again!
Thanks to all of you who came out for the party!
See ya at the next one!

Coming To A Used CD Store Near You!

I'm really not sure if anyone will buy this...at least on purpose...But here is a little FYI.

I think I will wait for a week later and pick it up at the used CD store... Who 'am I kidding.

This will never make my collection.

Sorry Metallica but I'm out on this one.

The musical collaboration between Lou Reed and METALLICA, "Lulu", will be released on November 1 in North America via Warner Bros. Records and one day earlier (October 31) in the rest of the world through Universal Music. The CD was co-produced by Reed, METALLICA, Hal Willner — who has produced albums for Reed, Marianne Faithfull, and Laurie Anderson, among others — and Greg Fidelman. Fidelman also mixed the record.

A variety of physical "Lulu" releases are available for pre-order at LouReedMetallica.com:

** 2CD Package - $19.99

Contents: Double CD with 24-page booklet including all lyrics.

** Deluxe 2CD Poster Set - $119.99

Contents: Limited-run tube including a poster of the "Lulu" mannequin and song lyrics, three high-quality prints of Anton Corbijn photos of Lou Reed and METALLICA, and the double CD of "Lulu" in a unique folding slipcase. Each tube is numbered. Dimensions of the tube are approximately 5.5 inches in diameter by 49 inches long.

** Deluxe Book 2CD - $109.99

Contents: Limited-run two-book set, each book 12" x 12" square bound with a hard cover. The Anton Corbijn book is 20 pages of photos taken of Lou Reed and METALLICA in Gothenburg, Sweden in the summer of 2011. The lyric book is 28 pages with lyrics from each song along with imagery from the objects collection of WerkbundarchiV Museum Der Dinge, Berlin, Germany. The two "Lulu" CDs are also included in the lyric book. All housed in a clear plastic slipcase.

** Vinyl 2LP Set

"Lulu" final track listing:

01. Brandenburg Gate (4:19)
02. The View (5:17)
03. Pumping Blood (7:24)
04. Mistress Dread (6:52)
05. Iced Honey (4:36)
06. Cheat On Me (11:26)
07. Frustration (8:33)
08. Little Dog (8:01)
09. Dragon (11:08)
10. Junior Dad (19:28)

The idea for these two giants of modern music to work together was born after the 25th anniversary Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame concerts in New York City in October 2009. METALLICA — singer/guitarist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo — played with Reed on VELVET UNDERGROUND classics "Sweet Jane" and "White Light/White Heat". "We knew from then that we were made for each other," Reed says.

After that triumphant performance, Reed suggested they all make a record together. At first they planned to record an album of Reedfraven's older material, what Ulrich describes as "some of Lou's lost jewels — songs that he felt he'd like to give a second spin, and we could do whatever it is we do to some of those songs." That idea "hung in the air for a couple of months." Then, a week or two before that session was to begin, "Lou called up and said, 'Listen, I have this other idea.'"

That idea was to record a series of songs Reed had written for American avant-garde theater director Robert Wilson and German theater group the Berliner Ensemble's production of the "Lulu Plays", which premiered in April at the Theatre am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin, founded by Bertolt Brecht. The songs are inspired by German expressionist Frank Wedekind's early 20th century plays "Earth Spirit" and "Pandora's Box", and were a rewrite of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven", which emerged as a graphic novel on Fantagraphics Press.

"We were very interested in working with Lou," says Hetfield. "I had these giant question marks: What's it going to be like? What's going to happen? So it was great when he sent us the lyrics for the 'Lulu' body of work. It was something we could sink our teeth into. I could take off my singer and lyricist hat and concentrate on the music part. These were very potent lyrics, with a soundscape behind them for atmosphere. Lars and I sat there with an acoustic and let this blank canvas take us where it needed to go. It was a great gift, to be asked to stamp 'TALLICA on it. And that's what we did."

"We had to bring 'Lulu' to life in a sophisticated way, using rock," Reed says. "And the hardest power rock you could come up with would have to be METALLICA. They live on that planet. We played together, and I knew it: dream come true. This is the best thing I ever did. And I did it with the best group I could possibly find. By definition, everybody involved was honest. This has come into the world pure. We pushed as far as we possibly could within the realms of reality."

"It's definitely not a METALLICA album, or a Lou Reed album," adds Hammett. "It's something else. It's a new animal, a hybrid."

Metallica.

New Metallica song came out yesterday.

I hang my head in shame and wish for the days of St. Anger.

Not even going to post a link to it.

I head about thirty seconds of it and can honestly say that I probably lost a hour of my life because of it.

Now if you are a huge fan of this new song feel free to explain it to me.

I DONT GET IT!
Guys...Get pissed off and start drinking again!

This takes balls!

Looking through TMZ this afternoon to see what is going on with the rich and famous and find out that our very own Zakk Wylde is being stalked.

I love Zakk to death and he is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met but he is not a frail, dainty, little flower of a guy.

As far as stalking for me. LiLo yes....Zakk no.

I guess the kid is a neighbor to Zakk and will not leave him alone.

But credit to Zakk for getting the court system involved and not just stomping him into a mush puddle.

My advise to the stalker is go for the jacked up drunk girl not the metal man!
Till next time!

It is almost that time of year...again!

Yeah, it is almost time to see the Christmas stuff hitting the shelves.

And you may have to put this on your list!
(Ok, so here is the deal. Jessica is a huge Weiland fan and it has been a running joke for us that he will be putting this CD out. He has been working on it for 3 years and every year I have to make fun of her for it. But maybe this year she will have it in her stocking.)

Here is the info!
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS/ex-VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland will release a Christmas album, "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year", on October 4 via Rhino Records. According to a press release, the CD covers "a variety of stylesincluding big band swing, orchestrated ballads, reggae, bossa nova and more, all delivered with surprising ease by Scott Weiland."

"The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" track listing:

01. The Christmas Song (3:16)
02. I'll Be Home For Christmas (3:05)
03. White Christmas (2:23)
04. Silent Night (3:00)
05. It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year (2:20)
06. What Child Is This? (3:20)
07. Winter Wonderland (2:15)
08. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (2:35)
09. Happy Christmas And Many More (3:16)
10. O Holy Night (4:11)

"The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" was described by Weiland in an August 2010 interview as "very traditional. You know, strings, upright bass, jazz horns, piano, and guitar. He added, "I'm sort of picking various versions of these songs, because they've been covered so many times, but my favorite versions — with a little twist."

The upcoming album isn't Weiland's first foray into holiday music. In December 2009 he released his cover version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" — made famous by Judy Garland in "Meet Me in St. Louis" — as a single. He also performed the song on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" back in 2006.

I thought so....

Well it has been a "work in progress" for about two years now.

But it looks like there might be light at the end of the tunnel for the new Van Halen....Sort of....Kind of...Maybe...

Hell, just check this out and do like I do...guess!

The latest rumor to circulate about the upcoming new album from VAN HALEN was that guitarist Eddie Van Halen was unhappy with some of David Lee Roth's vocals and wanted them re-recorded. According to an unnamed source denied rumors that the record was being shelved completely, but added, "The delay lies within the vocals. That seems to be the main roadblock. Eddie is just not satisfied with the vocals that have been recorded and re-recorded which has caused a lot of frustration with both the Van Halen and Roth camps alike." The site issued an update a short time later, however, saying that the issues "have been sorted."

The site also claims that the band's management is shopping for a record deal, although no one outside the VAN HALEN organization has heard the album.

Although the idea of an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart had reportedly been discussed, the band is now apparently looking for a huge worldwide deal with a single record company.

While a pre-Christmas release date is still the goal, it's not certain that the album will see the light of day before the end of 2011.

A North American tour in the first three months of 2012 has also been rumored, but as with everything related to VAN HALEN, nothing is confirmed.

Did we really need this?

Once in a while I stumble on to something that is a head scratcher.

And this just happens to fall in to that area.

I will be the first to admit that I am NOT a huge Weiland fan.

STP was good, VR was awesome but most of the solo stuff I have heard from him has not been high on my list of "great songs" and don't think I have not given it a fair shake.

He is one of Jessica's favorites so there have been many chances for him to wow me.

But today I see this in the news...

Not going to lie to you.

I don't see myself spending any money on it.

But if you are into it by all means.

Here are the details!

Till next time!

The Future?

Well lately there has been a lot of talk about what is going on with Disturbed.

A while back they made a statement that they are putting the band on hold.

What does that mean?
Well no new music for a while.

Slipknot has been in the same boat for a while as well.

But it looks like we may have to put another one on the list now.

Check out the following article.

It's been just over a year since AVENGED SEVENFOLD released its fifth album, "Nightmare", and the band can see the end of the touring and promotional cycle for it approaching sometime in the first half of 2012. But singer M. Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio that making a follow-up to the group's first No. 1 disc is the furthest thing from their minds right now. "We're not really thinking about it," he said. "I think bands burn themselves out. I mean, look what happened to DISTURBED. You get caught up in the 'do a record, tour for two years, do a record, tour for two years.' We just need to make sure everybody's mentally in the right spot before we start writing and doing a new record. Right now, I think we're gonna tour, go back to Europe in February, maybe finish up with a couple of things in Europe in the summer, and then take six, seven months and just sit around. If we decide to write, we will, if we decide not to, we won't."

DISTURBED announced earlier this month that it was going on "indefinite hiatus" after five studio albums and more than a decade on the road.

AVENGED bassist Johnny Christ admitted in a recent interview that writing the band's next album without late drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan is going to be "a very different process without having Jimmy around."

Sullivan, who died from an overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol in December 2009, was a major songwriting force in AVENGED SEVENFOLD.

The band's current drummer is Arin Ilejay, who began playing with them earlier this year.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD has been overseas for most of this summer but is now home to headline the Rockstar Uproar Festival tour, which kicks off on Friday (August 26) in Camden, New Jersey.
