"This Ain't No Poker Run"Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of rememberance for those who have died in our nation's service. The Celtic Thunder Ride not only remembers those heroes, but we HONOR all Veterans.
In previous years we have laid wreathes at:
All Veterans Memorial in Topeka, KS
WWI Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, MO
Vietnam Memorial in Kansas City, MO
War Mother Memorial at Haskell University in Lawrence, KS
National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS
This year we plan to continue the tradition by laying wreathes at the new All Veterans Memorial in Pink Hill Park in Blue Springs, MO, and at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
At the End of the Ride
We will serve lunch to the patients and staff at The Veterans Adminstration Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Then we will have lunch ourselves with some entertainment in the VA parking lot.
Proceeds from the Event
We are donating most of the monies raised by this event to THE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT (over 75%). According to the WWP, as of 2010, over 83 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to services and aid for the Wounded Warrior participants.
Don't be Left Out
Be a part of something bigger. Join us on this ride and find out for yourself how good it feels to give.
No Man (or woman) Left Behind
We will have a SAG Truck following the ride with a mechanic on board.
