If you've been a regular listener to The Johnny Dare Morning Show, or have participated in The March of Dimes Bikers For Babies Ride, you've heard the inspiring story of Don Post.
Diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, in 1980, Don was told he had only three to five years to live. With the news, Don retired from his professional career to dedicate himself to charity work in his final years. Defying the life expectancy given to him, for the past 33 years, Don has dedicated his life and energy to helping others.
Although Don has donated his time to many Kansas City charities, his love of children has made March of Dimes Bikers For Babies his primary focus. Through heat, cold, and rain, Don has been a volunteer for the past 18 years and Committee Chairman since 2010. Don's leadership has been instrumental in making Kansas City's Bikers For Babies ride the biggest in the United States, raising just under $7,000,000 to help premature babies make it home.
All of us at The Rock are honored to have Don's friendship and are inspired by his efforts. We were extremely pleased to find out that Don is one of four nominees for NASCAR's Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award. This recognition for Don is so very much deserved and could have a meaningful impact on his life's work, helping The March of Dimes save babies born prematurely. Should Don win this award, the NASCAR Foundation will donate $100,000 to March Of Dimes Kansas City in Don's name!
The award is determined exclusively by on-line voting. The nominee with the most votes will win the $100,000 grant from the NASCAR Foundation. Please return to vote once a day and encourage your network of friends to vote often for Don as well.
