Rockfest 2012
altText
For the past two days I have ridden my bike to work and not even had to gear up for it.
Last night we slept with the windows open.
Dare I say it kind of feels like spring?
I know it is late January and I am sure that one of these mornings I will wake up to cold ass temps and snow on the ground but for now I love it!
Still this weather makes me start thinking about summer and that as we know kicks off with Rockfest!
This year Rockfest will be 20!
Yeah….20….
We should have all the details for you coming up here in March but I am kind of wondering what you are guessing for this year on the lineup.
Care to take a stab at it?
Till next time!

Not sure if you watched the playoffs this weekend with New England and Baltimore but Steven Tyler did the National Anthem and it sounded just like him!
All of a sudden that night it seemed that everyone was up in arms with the way he sang it.
I heard terms like "horrible" "dis-respectful" and "screechy" being tossed around.
I will be the first to admit that I love Aerosmith and yes Steven has a very unique voice but you get what you get.
Has no one ever heard Aerosmith before?
Were they expecting the smooth sounds of…well someone other than Steven Tyler?
Sometimes I just shake my head in confusion.
Till next time!

???
It happened again!
I came across an article that was somewhat interesting not really in content but a "metal food show"!
Sure eating some veggies is a great thing but a "metal food show" !
You can bet that this is going to be something that I will keep track of!
And for the record I love a salad…With a big ass steak!

M

Canadian musician/producer Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STEVE VAI, LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR, GWAR) spoke about his vegetarian diet and his passion for cows during an interview with Gilles Lartigot of "Heavy Metal Food", a new Radio Metal column associating metal music with cooking.
When asked if he considers himself to be a vegetarian activist, Devin replied, "No. In fact, I'm the opposite of that, I think. I find that people who are active about such things run the risk of preaching, and I have no religious interests whatsoever. I think that religion is incredibly cruel, and I think that my biggest problem with being vegetarian, usually, is other vegetarians. Because I find, a lot of times, humans in general are… life isn't easy for anybody, so a lot of people are doing what they can do in order to get by. And I think that when somebody actively tries to convince other people that what they're doing in their life is not as relevant as what they're doing in their life, it's in my mind very similar to religion — it's like, 'Because you're not like me, you're wrong.'

"The risk a lot of times, in my mind — and I may be incorrect — the risk of challenging people directly with their beliefs is that society is such that there's too many of us, so a direct challenge automatically engages people's defenses. So I believe, with my music and with what I do — humor and whatever — is a way to disarm. Because I think if people enjoy what you're doing, then they're more willing to listen to why you're doing it. And for me, I think that there's really the risk of being confrontational for the sake of being confrontational and then people tune you out instantly.

"People say, 'Well, why don't you talk about being vegetarian?' And I'm like, 'People will find out.' The people who are interested in what I do and why I do it, being a vegetarian is a big part of that. But I think that, again, any opportunity that I've had to tell people, 'Hey, don't eat meat, don't do drugs, don't drink,' any opportunity that I've had to do that, I tend to say, 'The choice is yours. The reason I don't do it is this; this is the outcome of it. If this is what you're interested in, this is the steps that I have gone [through] to do that.

This Seems Fair To Me!`

There seems to be a lot of talking going on recently with Tim Tebow and his use of 3:16.
Well kids gather round because way back in the day there was a man call Steve Austin.
You may have heard him called "Stone Cold" and there was a reason for that.
He was a bad mother…
Well, he was (I am sure not the first) to use the "3:16" and made it quite famous.
Now all of a sudden this Tebow guy comes in and is tossing the 3:16 around like it is all his.
After looking on TMZ the other day I saw this and had to share!
Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think?

Before there was Tebow 3:16 in the NFL ... there was Austin 3:16 in the WWE ... and now the wrestling legend says he's willing to surrender his iconic numbers to the NFL star, pending one GIANT condition.

TMZ spoke with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin -- who tells us he watched Tebow's Mile High Miracle this weekend and was blown away when he learned Tim threw for exactly 316 yards in the playoff victory.

FYI -- the numbers have a special meaning with Stone Cold, who created the famous faux bible verse back in the '90s to humiliate his enemies -- "Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass!!!"

Now, Austin tells us, "Austin 3:16 still rules" ... but adds, "If Tebow can throw for 316 yards again this weekend then hell, he can have the numbers and I'll have no problem with it."

Austin continues, "A guy named John was using it before me ... so if Tebow can do it again, more power to him!"

"I wish him all the luck in the world," Austin says ... adding, "I'm not a Denver fan but Tim's a great role model for kids."

Well it is a new year and already some big news is in the headlines.
Like, love, or hate them Saliva has been a big part of The Rock's history over many years.
I have had the oppertunity to talk to them many times and would have to put them as one of my personal all time favorites.
Im sure the band will do fine and I wish Josey all the best in his new direction but still sad to think that this may have been the end of a era for us.
Read over this and see what you think.
M

SALIVA quietly parted ways with singer Josey Scott late last year, with guitarist Wayne Swinny was quoted as saying that Scott left the group after a decade and a half to pursue a career as a solo Christian artist. Although SALIVA's continued existence seemed to be in doubt as 2011 drew to a close, Swinny has revealed that he and the remaining members of SALIVA have recruited Jacksonville, Florida singer/songwriter Bobby Amaru to take over on the mic.

The group has already recorded three new songs which it will begin shopping around for a new record deal.

Amaru fronted his own solo band and played drums for BURN SEASON.

A tour is also in the works for February to introduce fans to the new lineup. It does not seem likely that the band will change its name.

Scott was a founding member of SALIVA, which formed in Memphis in 1996. He sang lead vocals on all seven of the band's albums to date, with the most recent being 2010's "Under Your Skin". The group has compiled 18 rock radio hits.

This is it!

Well this is the last blog of the year for me.
After Christmas I start my week off.
Going to kick back here in town for a few days and head up to Iowa to spend some quality time with the family.
Looking back at 2011 it has been a hell of a year.
We have seen many good shows, given away a bunch of cool rides, and had a lot of fun together.
As we get ready to usher in a new year I always wonder what it will have in store.
The new friends I will make and all the fun things I will see.
Will this be the year the world comes to an end…That is what the Myans say?
We were ready in the spring for "the rapture" but it never hit.
Other questions running through my head…Who's ready for Rockfest 2012 and the 20th anniversary of it?
Who do you think will be there?
Enough thinking!
Finally I want to say thank you very much for making 2011 so much fun.
Can't wait to get 2012 going!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This Could Come In Handy!

I do enjoy a good app and I think if there were ever one that was truly needed but not thought about it would be this!
And just in time for Christmas!

Check it out!

A new phone app has been created to help people understand the infamous Brummie accent (a colloquial term for the inhabitants, accent and dialect of Birmingham, England), which legendary singer Ozzy Osbourne is notorious for having.

The iBrummie app translates sayings from the famous second city twang into the Queen's English and says them out loud.

iBrummie will be available for free download on iPhones and Android phones on December 19.

In a 2003 episode of Ozzy and his family's reality series "The Osbournes", the vocalist famously had problems with his then-new car, as the voice recognition system couldn't understand a word he said.

This Sounds Cool!

I have been thinking that it has been a long time since we have had a all female group that really can kick some ass.
Sure there have been a few over the years but after reading this I think we could really get some good stuff from it!
And if anyone could pull it off it would be Lzzy!
Check it out!

According to The Pulse Of Radio, HALESTORM singer Lzzy Hale told The Saginaw News that she has a secret dream to form a female super group — a modern version of the cult '70s band THE RUNAWAYS — with SICK PUPPIES bassist Emma Anzai, SKILLET keyboardist Korey Cooper and drummer Jen Ledger, and ALICE COOPER guitarist Orianthi. She explained, "It's funny, we secretly talk about it when we hang out. But the truth is that here we are, women in rock, and most of our influences come from our parents' generation."

Hale added that she sees the female musicians she named as part of a positive trend in music, saying, "There are so many of us out there, talented women making it in the business. We're breaking the rules in a business that hasn't had any real rules before. You can put a short skirt on anybody and go for cute, but this is a nice, refreshing trend. They inspire me to do better."

The vocalist says she's also influenced by artists like HEART's Ann and Nancy Wilson, as well as former THE RUNAWAYS guitarist Joan Jett.

Although Hale says she'd love to perform with some of her fellow women, she told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that she loves touring with the guys as well. "One of the most incredible things just from hanging out with all of these boys is that they're incredibly nice," she said. "And I'm gonna completely ruin their reputations, but they really — I mean, they're smart men you can actually have a conversation with, and it's incredible like how supportive they are to each other and it's just a complete pleasure to just be in the company of these guys."

HALESTORM has some scattered gigs on tap throughout the month of December, but the band is mainly gearing up to issue its sophomore album sometime in early 2012.

New Van Halen...Maybe?
altText
Found this in the news ths morning.
Is it too late or do you think you will buy this?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, VAN HALEN's new record deal with Interscope is expected to be finalized this week, marking the first time in 35 years that the band will not release music through Warner Music, its longtime label home.

As to why VAN HALEN's much-rumored deal with Columbia didn't happen, an insider tells The Hollywood Reporter that the contract for the Sony (Columbia's parent company) deal was drawn up and approved but hadn't been signed when Universal Music stepped into the picture. The band eventually decided to do the Interscope deal after a series of meetings during which Interscope presented VAN HALEN with a global plan that included extensive marketing, merchandising, touring and recordings.

VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth, who has a separate management, legal and accounting team from the other three members, was adamant about being on a West Coast label and "was never on board with Columbia," according to the report.

VAN HALEN's already completed new studio album — its first in 27 years to feature Roth — is now expected to arrive early next year.

VAN HALEN reunited with Roth in 2007 for a successful year-long reunion tour — minus original bassist Michael Anthony, who now plays with ex-VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar in CHICKENFOOT.

Rumor has it that VAN HALEN will appear at the November 30 Grammy Nominations Concert at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater to announce that they will perform at the actual Grammy Awards in February. The buzz around town is that they will also use this opportunity to announce details of their pending album and tour.
