A new plant, found in Baja California, Mexico, has been christened Dudleya Hendrixii (aka "Hendrix's liveforever") after senior biologist and SDSU alum Mark Dodero was rocking out to the Jimi Hendrix song "Voodoo Child" in the field.

Unfortunately, the plant is in danger. San Diego State says its two-acre habitat is threatened by farming, off-road vehicles and development.
