LISTEN: Stone Temple Pilots Are Back With New Song "Meadow" & New Lead Singer Jeff Gutt

November 15, 2017

Stone Temple Pilots are back, and they’re coming in hot with a new lead singer AND a new song!

First, welcome new singer Jeff Gutt to the stage—the Troubadour stage, that is. The band revealed he’d be fronting STP at their show Tuesday night at Los Angeles’ Troubadour.

Hear his vocals on the song the band just shared called “Meadow.”

What do you think of the first song by the new Stone Temple Pilots?

If you’re impressed by the vocals, you’re not alone—the band searched for over a year and scoped out thousands of singers before landing on Gutt, a former member of the nu-metal band Dry Cell and recent contestant on The X Factor, reports Rolling Stone.

Gutt joins Robert (bass) and Dean DeLeo (guitar), as well as Eric Kretz (drums), replacing the late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who was a stand in for original frontman Scott Weiland after his passing. So to say he’s got some big shoes to fill is an understatement, but Gutt isn’t trying to, stating no one could possibly fill a legend’s shoes. In any case, based on the sound of “Meadow,” he’s starting things off with a bang.

“Meadow” will be featured on the band’s forthcoming full-length album (the seventh from STP!), and while the album remains untitled, it’s looking like it’s set for a Spring 2018 release.
