Well we made it!!
Six days on the road and just a bit over 2,500 miles!
Got to see some great sights from the lighting of Mt. Rushmore, Wal Drug, the Badlands, The Black Hills, and the Rockies.
Tons of wild life to. Got a great shot of some mountain goats just crossing the road no more than 10 feet from the bike.
Over all it was a great trip!
Did hit a few days of rain and cold.
At one point running through the Rockies we actually got hit with some sleet!
Kind of made that a short day. I had to draw the line at 28 degrees!
Who would have thought we would need winter gear in the last week of July?
Talked Jessica into staying at the little roadside no name motor lodges.
Great bed, park your bike at the door, awesome air conditioning (not that we really needed it) and most important....CHEAP!
Found some great truck stop dinners along the way as well with buffalo burgers, elk steaks, and yes I did eat rocky mountain oysters in the Rockies!
Plus the local beers were great. From Moose Drool (had to try that) in Deadwood to Staggering Elk in Estes Park.(Just a fun fact for you when you get into the mountains beer has a bit more of a kick, feel free to ask "One Beer Jessica" on that.)
While you are at it, ask her about the bird that landed on her head!
It was a hell of a week but it is hard to beat home!
Until the next one...Ride Safe!
