Our First Low Dough Show of 2013
Last night we had our very first Low Dough Show of 2013 and as expected all you crazy fuckers made it another sell out at The Midland. I had the distinct pleasure of being your Master of Ceremonies and here's my version of what went on, went down, and all that I can remember before the beer kicked in and drove me home, in a cab!

I got to the Midland a little before eight to meet up with The Bob. As the top of the hour approached it was great to chat with Gil from Isaac James. These guys are from KC and most certainly were honored to be playing a show for everyone and to finally be on the right bill to showcase what they've got and while I can't recall the names of all the songs, I gotta say, they certainly brought it. I'd say the best way to describe their sound is good ole southern rock. It was their first show with their new drummer, but one wouldn't have guessed it. Nice work gents.
Otherwise is the supporting act on the Stone Sour tour and as a support act, they did a good job of being support. At one point the lead singer said, "I don't care if you like our band or not put your middle fingers in the air", so the irony wasn't lost when whatever song they were on had a close out with a smidge of Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name". Funny, cause RATM had crossed my mind when he did that. I guess I was tapped into the collective conscious of the audience or just picking up the contact high from some really good sticky icky!

Stone Sour was the best I've ever seen of them, though I can't recall, it may have been the first time I'd seen them. I know they did a Rockfest a couple years back because I interviewed Corey, but know I didn't see them since I was on air. None-the-less, they opened with what I thought they'd open with. Tracks one and two off of "House of Gold & Bones Part 1" in "Gone Sovereign" and "Absolute Zero". They closed out with 30-30-150 and it was pretty high intensity the entire time. I watched from the balcony above and it seemed to me that all of you in attendance were having a great time!

After the show I went over to the Indie Bar with 3/5ths of Red Line Chemistry as they were meeting up with the guys from Otherwise but I didn't stay long. I know me and knew it was best to get out of there before getting myself into any trouble. So into a cab I went, and drunkenly navigated the drive to my house. And this morning I realized just how much of a nincompoop I can be as I opened not one but two bottles of beer and left them entirely full. Yeah, I'm a real genius!

Here's some notes I made on my phone as I watched the show:
IJ (Isaac James) Straight forward RnR, solid
Best poster in the crowd (we need more of these) "Help, I need a guitar pic"
Crowd surfer with camera on his head (Is this correct? Did I see this right?)
Slipknot masked crowd surfer
Kid got scolded for trying to climb back over the guard rail, after crowd surfing, instead of walking around.
Till next show!

It's Tuesday & This Is New Music Out, And What's Coming!
It’s Tuesday and that means new music, but for this blog it’s all about a soundtrack and compilation album! “WEST of MEMPHIS” is a documentary about the West Memphis Three. As everyone knows the WM3 were a band of teenagers,  Jessie Misskelley, Damien Echols, and Jason Baldwin,  who were tried and convicted of murder before forensic evidence finally led to their release from prison after more than 18 years. This story always captivated musicians, especially rock musicians, as many felt these men were targeted for their appearance and for their love of rock and metal. The line up on this soundtrack is a top notch batch of performers, many of whom supported these lads over the 18 years.
  1. Henry Rollins (featuring Nick Cave & Warren Ellis original score), ‘Damien Echols Death Row Letter Year 9′
  2. Natalie Maines, ‘Mother’
  3. Lucinda Williams, ‘Joy’
  4. Camp Freddy, ‘The Jean Genie’
  5. Tonto’s Giant Nuts featuring Johnny Depp & Bruce Witkin, ‘Little Lion Man’
  6. Marilyn Manson, ‘You’re So Vain’

  12. Bob Dylan, ‘Ring Them Bells’

New Music Tuesday!!
Another batch of new music comes out today. Some good, DKM, whilst some are Meh, BVB. Let's get started!

**Another DVD of the Rolling Stones comes out today; "Crossfire Hurricane", recounts the last 50 years of the Stones with a previously unreleased concert of them in Germany in 1965.

**Fourteen years into their illustrious career and them boys from Boston are back with "Signed and Sealed in Blood". For those of you that know me, I'm an incredibly huge fan of the Dropkick Murphy's and nearly never sober at their show!

**"Notes from the Underground - Unabridged" by Hollywood Undead comes out today as well. Even before I caught these guys a few years back in St. Louis at one of their festivals I have been a fan and am interested to see the work that comes out, especially with all the turmoil around the band and ex-member Deuce.

**I'll admit it and discuss it with whomever cares to, I am not a fan of Black Veil Brides. After careful deliberation as to why this is I've come to a couple conclusions. I don't believe them. They're too whiny for me. In my eyes they're trying too hard to be some sort of social rebel all pissed off at mommy and daddy, yet happy to live under their roof as long as they'll let them, eating their food, shitting in their toilets and borrowing their internet to play Xbox or PS3 with other malcontent, misunderstood, spoiled brats. Plus, I think the lead singer's got to go. Music's good, lead singer not so much, the end. None-the-less, they've got a new album out today "Wretched & Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones".

**Pantera/Down/etc frontman Phil Anselmo as a new split-EP out today. Here's the direct quote from Amazon, "2013 split EP from Pantera/Down vocalist Phil Anselmo and Metal warriors Warbeast. War Of The Gargantuas includes two songs from each artist."

What's came out or coming out that's got you going?
Who're you looking forward to listening to?

Here's a video from DKM, "Rose Tattoo"!

Enjoy! Thanks for reading!

Forget Retail Stores, I'm Going To The Thrift Store!
Today for a quarter I got a "Best of Johnny Cash" 8 Track. Yeah, I don't own an 8 Track player, BUT it's dope and nostalgic. I also, for fifty cents, got a cassette of the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughn. Again, I don't own a tape player, but it's dope looking and will be on display nicely.

My girl picked up a sick 1930's chair for only Sixteen Bucks! Yeah, it needs a little cleaning and whatnot but it's dope and she loves it.

So that's one of my goals in 2013. Forget the retail chains and all that mumbo jumbo, let's hit the thrift store! VIDEO IS NSFW!! LANGUAGE (Oh my!)

Holy Sh!t!! Puppies!!!
A few days ago, via Facebook, my girlfriend and I saw that five Great Pyrenees puppies had been abandoned and that a Good Samaritan had brought them into Great Plains SPCA. The posting said they’d be available for adoption in a couple-few days. We discussed it, laid out the Pros and Cons and made the decision to pick up two of them. I got there fifteen minutes after the adoption center opened and one of the females, total was three males two females, had already been adopted. But the gods were smiling upon us because the two I wanted to look at, who came to me in a very timid state, were still in the kennel by the time I was able to grab one of Great Plains employees to help me. By then, a male had been snagged, thus leaving only three left. I can’t say for certain the other male was adopted but I can’t imagine, either, he lasted long. Tons of people were flocking in to look at these little guys. It was a quick process and now we have two, amazing, fun loving, little fur balls; Gonzo and Succotash!
Perhaps you should head over to Great Plains SPCA (5428 Antioch Drive in Merriam) or give them a buzz (913) 831-7722. They’re a No-Kill shelter and have a variety of dogs and cats that are looking for the perfect, loving home! You can even look over them online, whist in your underwear! http://www.greatplainsspca.org/adoptions-and-services/adoptions/view_adoptable_pets/
