NIKKI SIXX Mourning Death Of His Mother - June 10, 2013
MÖTLEY CRÜE and SIXX: A.M. bassist Nikki Sixx is mourning the death of his mother. Deana Richards passed away on Saturday, June 8 at the age of 74. Sixx revealed the news in a tweet that read, "RIP Mom 5-5 1939 to 6-8 2013."
Nikki Sixx was a major drug abuser during much of MÖTLEY CRÜE's first decade, and was once even declared dead for two minutes after overdosing on heroin. Since getting sober, however, Sixx has continued to record and tour, written a book, taken up photography and become president of a record label. He told The Pulse of Radio that sometimes he can't believe his current lifestyle. "It's insane," he said. "It's insane. And you know what? If you manage it well, you can achieve so much on the planet, more than what I used to be able to achieve, which was, 'Let me write ten songs, record an album and go on tour.' That's it. That's all I did. That's like, ridiculous. If all I had to do was make a MÖTLEY CRÜE album and tour, I'd feel like I was gonna slit my wrists, I'd be so bored now."
Sixx's real name is Frank Carlton Serafina Feranna. He was born in San Jose and raised by his mother and grandparents after his father left the family.
After moving around several times, he struck out for Los Angeles on his own at the age of 17, first joining the band London before forming MÖTLEY CRÜE in 1981 with drummer Tommy Lee.
The band released its debut album, "Too Fast For Love", in 1982, and scored its commercial breakthrough in 1983 with "Shout at the Devil".
Despite other hit albums such as "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Dr. Feelgood", the CRÜE went through a period of uncertainty in the '90s, with both singer Vince Neil and Lee leaving the group at different times.
The original band reunited in 2004 for a hugely successful world tour, at which point Sixx officially declared himself sober.
His darkest drug period was chronicled in a 2007 memoir, "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star", and the accompanying album by his side project SIXX: A.M.
Sixx has been married twice, to Playboy Playmate Brandi Brandt and actress Donna D'Errico, and has five children. He is currently engaged to model Courtney Bingham.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Tim Lambesis, lead singer for the heavy metal band As I Lay Dying, has been arrested over accusations he sought the help of an undercover detective to have his estranged wife killed, police said.
Lambesis was taken into custody on Tuesday in Oceanside, California, after he solicited help from the detective, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said in a statement. Police had previously learned Lambesis was seeking someone who could commit the slaying, the department said.
A representative for the As I Lay Dying's record label could not immediately be reached for comment, and it was unclear if Lambesis had an attorney.
The band's 2007 album "An Ocean Between Us" debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 list, and ranks as one of their top-selling releases. Last year, As I Lay Dying put out its sixth album, "Awakened." Lambesis is a founding member of the band, which was formed in San Diego. Motley Crue‘s end is in sight. The group started publicly talking about hanging up their guitars for good early last month with Nikki Sixx providing come recent clarification on the group’s decision to call it a day. Now, in a new interview, Vince Neil confirms what many of us already know.
“It’s time, that’s really it,” Vince told the Toronto Sun. “Do you want to go out on top rather than fading away? And that’s it. You know, I’ll continue to sing Motley with my solo band and put out solo records and stuff and Nikki’s got his radio show and [drummer] Tommy [Lee] wants to be a deejay, and so we’ll see what happens.”
Neil’s recent interview doesn’t necessarily share any shocking revelations but he is frank about the reasons why he believes it’s time to quit. With more than 80 million records sold over the course of their career, Neil admits it will be a long goodbye of sorts. He says the group hopes to release a new record next year and will then spend the bulk of 2014 and 2015 on the road.
“We’re going to put out some new music next year and then it’s our farewell tour — we’ll do the world one more time and then call it a day. Our farewell tour (will be like) 2014 or ’15. Tours last about two years. So to finish the world, you’ve got to do the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia…it takes some time.”
Anyone else notice that Vince mentioned HIS solo project but just said that Nikki "has jis radio show"? No mention of Sixx A.M. Sounds to me like someone feels a little threatened.....just sayin'
Oh baby, it is almost here and my liver is already crying for mercy!! Big weekend coming up with the NASCAR Truck and Sprint Cup series' coming to town for an adrenaline pumping, action packed weekend!!
I've always loved having Kansas Speedway here in town and have always enjoyed going out on race weekend and watching the races but it used to be that Kansas was just another weekend on the schedule and just another mile and half track on the circuit, but with the reconfiguration of the track last year with new pavement and progressive banking through the corners, it's not just another track on the schedule anymore. Kansas Speedway is now a beast with a whole new personality....even the TV commentators are pumping it up. I was watching the race at Texas this past weekend and they mentioned Kansas Speedway more than once (and not just in passing saying that that's where the next race would be....more like how it was going to be a factor!) About mid-race, this was the exchange between Darrell Waltrip, Larry McReynolds and Mike Joy in the broadcast booth:
Waltrip: Kansas ought to be REAL interesting…with the new repave and these cars….I have no IDEA how fast these cars will go around that racetrack
McReynolds: It’ll put a whole new meaning to fast
Joy: What’d Kurt Busch say in qualifying..Ludacris speed
McReynolds: I know the Rousch/Fenway teams tested there a couple of weeks ago…corner entry speed 212 mph
That's what I'm talking about when I say the track has a whole new personality. Speeds used to average around 165 mph, now they're diving in there at over 200....higher speeds equal more action!
Later in the race, Chris Meyers and Michael Waltip discussed the new track:
Meyers: New asphalt already with multiple groves in Kansas Michael so how is that going to make a difference in that mile and a half track next Sunday?
Waltrip: The crew chiefs are going to be challenged, you know, you’re only going to come to pit road ONLY every now and then at Kansas because the tires are going to continue to stick. The drivers are going to be challenged because of the intense speed…these guys will be going over 205 mph down into the corner for this 400 miler…the multiple groves that they have in the corners, the variable banking means that there’s going to be options for these drivers when they get down into the corner….Kansas, the action is going to pick up for sure
Yeah, not just another track on the schedule anymore folks. I'M READY!!!!!
